About to start two new videos. Hometown for J-Gold and Leggo Dat for Major Fresh.

Leggo Dat was filmed whilst I was in Manchester, Jamaica. Hometown will be filmed in my hometown, Nottingham. Tommorrow we will be filming Hometown and we aim to wrap up the filming in one day. Looking forward to trying some interesting montage effects in black and white.

I’ve decided that as well as talking about me I will add useful links and so on as that is what I like when I visit someone’s blog

creative media link: Digital juice Great for tutorials and ideas ( if you like video editing )

Another one for those interested in film editing, highly recommended book: In the blink of an eye by Walter Murch

And the Strangest secret by Earl Nightingale a classic personal development tape, not everyone’s cup of tea but I think it’s timeless

Hello everyone, this will be my first blog written using MacSpeech dictation, I’m amazed! I originally intended to use some software called iListen then discovered a more effective software which is the one I’m using now, dictation.

Me and Popxs will be attending the Bang! film Festival this evening at  Broadway Cinema. I hope to be inspired as I normally am when I go to Bang! last year I was lucky enough to have two pieces of media shown. This year I missed the deadline which is slightly annoying, I had two music videos and a documentary I could have entered, oh well! next year! In fact somebody was telling me about filmfestivals.com where you can get a complete list of all the film festivals in the UK. I think my next plan of action should be to get that list and start sending off some DVDs. Time to think nationwide instead of regional! I love Nottingham but there is a big wide world out there.

Music video tips

I am currently working on a bassline remix music video entitled “Do me like that” by Lori. This is the first video that I have had the chance to unleash the power of the Sony HCR-V1PI decided to use the low contrast winter sky to my advantage and went for the cinetone type2 film look mentioned in detail on some v1p forums. This wouldn’t work so well in the middle of the day in India but over here in the UK we tend to like the grainy film look. Well I do anyway. I hoped to go to nottingham castle and film the view in the background whilst filming the artist close up, maybe a close side shot, hood up. We took to long on the first shot which didn’t look that great anyway. This was half expected as I read that the first shot is always the same so its best to go for your easiest, least favourite first. Nottingham castle shots would look much better on a clearer day so I’ll keep a eye on the forecasts and film some dancers in the meantime
