Alisia and Rachael decided to start nibbling away on my goodies in the artist studio at the NAE. So I decided to film them and something strange happened! These wide-angle lenses are too much fun, I should really be more sensible though. There is a performance happening at the New Art Exchange on the 6th and 7th of November and earlier today we were putting the final touches to some of the media that will be used for the trailer and the performance.

Blog on Editing
Sometimes I feel as though when I’m editing footage, I almost get lost! When this happens I guess the best thing to do is take a step back and review where I’m at, what am trying to accomplish and where is this edit taking me? Laid-back, fast-paced, smooth and subtle or unique and funky!
It’s not always about me! sometimes!
I’ve decided that as well as talking about me I will add useful links and so on as that is what I like when I visit someone’s blog
creative media link: Digital juice Great for tutorials and ideas ( if you like video editing )
Another one for those interested in film editing, highly recommended book: In the blink of an eye by Walter Murch
And the Strangest secret by Earl Nightingale a classic personal development tape, not everyone’s cup of tea but I think it’s timeless
How was Nick feeling today? 2nd day of editing
Nick Cairns describes how he is feeling on the 2nd day of editing (Mon 3rd March): Today is the first day of the rest of my life, whoever said that… I’ve served my sentence at John Browns Printers in Glaise-Hell, Bilborough’s Maximum Security Industrial Complex, as many more designers have done before me, and I’m free to do what I want, any old time… whoever said that. I’ve got two months’ worth of wages saved up which will cover my bills until April or May, and lots of ideas and ambitions to develop. Starting with week two of the Get Lovin’ edit, on a blustery but sunny pre-Spring Monday. It’s a busy day for all of us creatives it seems, with the monthly blackdrop open mic in the evening, an art workshop with Popx at 4 and an exhibition launch at the Surface Gallery at 6 to fill time
Teamwork editing
Nick Cairn describes what he was doing at my edit suite yesterday: what I’ll be doing today is looking through the footage and getting the best bits together in preparation for editing. We have quite a few hours of good varied footage on camera so it’s gonna be a challenge, but once I’ve cut it all down a natural shape will emerge and then it’ll be playtime! More later, wanna get crackin’…!
How was Priesthood feeling?
Quite a unique challenge! In the respect of being filmed especially in the “open” air. I feel honoured, yes honoured to be a part of this Positive Musical message video.I was like… Wow yes I’m up for it! The feelings of excitement stirring up inside me mixed with some what negative feelings such as nervousness, thoughts such as… people I don’t know seeing me performing in the streets/ different areas of Nottingham. One of my main concerns was, is not to disappoint.
How was Nick feeling today?
I asked the team if they would describe how they were feeling on the first day of reviewing footage, here is Nick Cairn’s response: How am I feeling today? In general, I’ve got a cold, which is irritating my throat and nose, but the air outside is fresh and the sun is out, hinting at a promise of a more pleasant year than 2007.This is the fifth Saturday of production, having spent an afternoon of planning and three afternoons of location filming. With more than enough footage, this is the point where it needs to take shape, so I’m feeling a little apprehensive. But there’s a been a lot of positive encouragement in the room and I’ve now had the chance to become more familiar with the material. I have a much clearer idea of what direction we can go and what footage is useable. Soon I will have a little more time to sit down for a full working day to start the tricky process of editing.
So another step forward, closer to achieving our goals. Next Monday will see all the mental and practical preparation we’ve made starting to bear fruit.
